Cleaning your engine
Motorcar engine compartments are made to be waterproof to a large extent. Sometimes you might just want to use a cloth to keep those airfilter or camshaft covers shiny - use a non-fluff cloth, especially on stainless steel parts (make sure the engine has cooled down!). But in general, use anti-grease engine cleaning liquid especially made for the purpose. Usually you spray it on and rinse it off with a water hose. Give the top easy-to-reach parts a quick dry down with a t-shirt type (cotton) material. After you're done, give it a good look-over to ensure that no pieces of cloth got left behind.
