Always use a clean rag when washing your vehicle. Preferably you should use a new rag because although your rag may be washed, old dirt leaves hard areas on the rag which can cause scratches on the duco of the vehicle. Ideally you should use a chammy; it normally lasts a couple of months before it gets that slimey feeling (and then it is of no use). Do not use the same cloth that you use to wash your wheel rims or tyres on the body of the car; there might be fine grains of sand or grit stuck to the cloth which could damage the duco. T-shirting can be used for washing as well as waxing your vehicle. That is, the normal cotton type T-shirt. In short, use a soft non-fluff cloth, in particular when polishing your car exterior.
